The First Five! Initial Formnext Forum Speaker Reveal

Additive Manufacturing Media Editor-In-Chief, Peter Zelinski, revealed the first five additive manufacturing industry experts presenting at this year's Formnext Forum: Austin, taking place August 28-30, 2023, at the Palmer Event Center in Austin, TX.


The initial speakers represent leaders in three critical AM areas - production, industry and academia.


The Formnext Forum: Austin Five Five are:

  • Troy Olson, rms Company

  • Carlo De Bernardi, ConocoPhillips

  • Mike York, Eaton Aerospace

  • Joy Gockel, Colorado School of Mines

  • Carolyn Seepersad, University of Texas at Austin

Full-scale, 24/7 serial production of medical devices - that's where rms Machine Co is now. The company's Director of Operations, Additive Manufacturing, Troy Olson will share how they got there. From investigation to inception to hundreds of thousands of devices.



De Bernardi, Additive Manufacturing Lead and Staff Engineer, at Oil & Gas industry leader ConocoPhillips will discuss the "Current and Future State of AM in the Oil & Gas Industry."


Looking specifically to the power of AM for series part production, Eaton Aerospace's Director of Additive Manufacturing, Mike York, will examine four key characteristics enabling successful production AM - speed, cost, component and system performance and supply chain resiliency.


It takes people to produce parts and that is were Dr. Joy Gockel, Colorado School of Mines, expertise will focus as shares insights into "Workforce Development Needs and Opportunities in AM".


Last, Professor Carolyn Seepersand from The University of Texas at Austin will dive into "Process Aware Design for Additive Manufacturing" with a clear focus on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM).
